Following an unexpected redundancy from a corporate “job for life”, Mike took the time to give serious thought to what he really wanted to commit 12+ hours a day to, and, more importantly, make a difference by doing.

Mike self funded his AAT qualification, secured a job in the city working for a specialist construction debt recovery firm. An oppprtunity arose when their sister company’s accounts manager went on maternity leave, to fill the position within the construction invoice finance arm.

After being thrown in at the deep end, Mike quickly grasped the concept and played a part in all aspects from initial onboarding, underwriting of complex deals, and ongoing client account management.

Mike is a huge supporter of mental health awareness in the workplace and after suffering himself, took time out of the industry and pursued simpler work in various call centres during these tougher times. It was here, that he devised a plan to run a finance lead generation campaign.

After moving 250 miles to join a finance brokerage, he then went it alone and established SMT, with a view to helping clients get the very best financial vehicle for their business, ranging from start up companies to those in excess of £50m+.

Moving towards the present day, Mike prides himself on client care and his tenacious attitude ensures that success is delivered and the ethos of the business is carefully filtered down through a strict, selective recruitment process.
